Online Collaboration

Your Google account gives you access to many useful web based applications, GMail, Google Calendar, Google Reader, Google Maps and many others, most of which incorporate features that support conversation, sharing and collaboration.

Many other web based applications and practices support interaction and communication but people need to be taught how to use them effectively. Zotero is an example of a web based application that has social functionality built in which allows collaborative work. MindMeister can be used collaboratively as well.

Design a lesson that uses online applications and practices to develop learners capacity to work collaboratively.

Provide an exemplar.

Some popular strategies for teaching collaboration can be adapted for use with ICT.

The JigSaw Classroom technique is very detailed.

Others include; clusters, buzz groups, round robin, leaning cells, or fish bowl discussions
